Cumberland County, PA – Penn State Master Gardeners are offering a NEW garden program devoted to preschoolers! Join the Master Gardeners of Cumberland County for their first-ever Preschool In-the-Garden program on Friday, August 12, 2016, offered in both a morning and afternoon session, 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Held at the Penn State Extension Office in Carlisle, this fun-filled experience offers preschoolers ages 4-6 the opportunity to learn about sunflowers and butterflies through hands-on and sensory activities.
Preschoolers will have story time outside in the gardens and explore our Sunflower House as they soak up the sight, smells, and sounds from inside! Activities also include learning about the butterfly life cycle, making a butterfly grass pet, exploring the gardens with all five senses through a scavenger hunt, and practicing their colors with the many flowering plants in our gardens!
Registration is limited to 10 preschoolers per session and is required by Friday, August 5, 2016. Each session is identical in content and activities. Therefore, please register for only one session, either morning or afternoon. The registration fee is $5.00 and includes all program materials and take-home items. To register, or to find out more information, contact the Cumberland County Penn State Extension Office at 717-240-6500 or visit http://extension.psu.edu/cumberland.
