THE MEANT TO BE: Met in college. Together for eleven years, experiencing adventures around the world: Europe, Africa, Cuba, the Arctic to see polar bears. It was finally time to get married so the parents can have grandchildren.
THE VENUE: They chose Harrisburg as a midway spot between Marlana’s hometown of Williamsport and George’s Washington, D.C. Found the Pennsylvania Capitol Rotunda. Gilt, marble, crystal, murals. Historic tiles underfoot. Soaring dome overhead. Fall 2013 was booked. On the spot, Marlana booked the last spring 2014 date available.
THE BRIDE’S ENTRANCE: The guests applauded when George took his place. His face beamed as Marlana and her father walked down the grand sweep of the Rotunda’s marble steps. She felt like a princess.
THE BAND: Guests are still talking about the amazing band. Entertainer for celebrities, New York City’s Eturnity Band played for ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The younger crowd got a
late-night DJ.
THE FUN: A cigar roller recalled George and Marlana’s time in Cuba. At a photo booth, guests donned burlesque costumes, nose glasses, or hats and scarves for silly pics.
