Meant to be: Christina Stepp thought she was just inviting herself to a New Year’s Eve party with friends. Those friends had already told Tim they were bringing her to meet him. “We hit it off,” says Christina. “He asked for my phone number, and I gave him my real number. The next day he was texting for a drink.” The proposal: Come to the family lake house near Scranton and meet our new puppy, Christina’s sister said. After a long week at work, Christina was in no mood for a two-hour drive from Philadelphia, but Tim kept pushing, and Christina’s sister asked her to pick up a pizza. No cars in the driveway. Did everyone leave? She climbed the spiral staircase from the basement, and there stood Tim in a suit, surrounded by candles and 70 roses in separate vases. The ceremony: The family’s St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Hershey sparkled in gold and white. The reception: “My only real requirement was that we have good food and good drinks, and I get to dance with my wife,” says Tim. Within an hour, “everyone was on the dance floor, and that was what we wanted,” adds Christina. Summertime fare abounded, including, at last call, French fry cones and Philly cheesesteak sliders. The reveal: Textures and colors in citrus shades. Christina works for fashion house Lily Pulitzer, and all that playful color was at work. The hitch: A couple of the groomsmen disappeared in the afternoon on a liquor store run for a couple cases of the bourbon that had been forgotten. The calm: Christina’s nerves jangled so badly that she kept bottles of Pepto-Bismol and Gatorade handy. Her sister taught her breathing techniques. Then her dad stepped on the bus, and she thought, “My dad’s here, and everything’s going to be okay.”
