Blogger Boutique
The Susquehanna Style staff would like send an official congratulations out to our Mommy in Heels blogger Rebecca Wattenschaidt as she joins the long list of fabulous downtown York business owners! After two years as a fashion blogger, Wattenschaidt decided to turn her hobby into a full-fledged business. Her newest venture, a stylish boutique on Beaver Street called Elizabeth & West Fashion House, provides trendy, affordable women’s clothing and accessories to Susquehanna Valley residents. The boutique, which opened in May, also offers a limited supply of children’s merchandise, including adorable rompers and upcycled leather moccasins created by local artisan Tabitha Phillips. Phillips is not the only local entrepreneur the store supports; Wattenschaidt also carries a line of handcrafted leather handbags and clutches made by Blair Ritchey of Chambersburg. Follow Elizabeth & West Fashion House on Facebook to find out about upcoming events, like special First Friday hours and promotions, as well as a trunk show with Ritchey in the fall. -H.W.

Helping to serve the needs of the greater Harrisburg area, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore embraces the idea that housing is a right and not a privilege. Habitat for Humanity is known across the world for its services that confront the ongoing issue of substandard housing, working through volunteers and donations to provide homes for those in need. In Harrisburg, the Habitat for Humanity ReStore is a great place for people to donate gently used furniture and building supplies, as well as to find and purchase discounted materials and one-of-a-kind treasures. In addition to helping Habitat for Humanity, your donation helps Dauphin and Cumberland Counties go green by keeping usable items out of the landfill. Items that can be donated include appliances, furniture, kitchen cabinets (especially entire sets), lighting fixtures, tools, windows and doors. The ReStore even offers free pick-ups from your home or office in Dauphin County or on the West Shore. All donations are tax-deductible, and all donors receive a tax receipt. Visit the Harrisburg ReStore’s website for a full list of accepted donations or to learn about how you can volunteer. -M.M.

Beach Reads: "Ebb from the Shoreline"
Cancer touches nearly everyone, from friends, to family members, even ourselves. Brenda Lee Sieglitz, of Mount Joy, tells the story of her late husband's battle with cancer in her recently-written novel. “Ebb from the Shoreline: Finding Cancer and Courage” documents the relationship of the couple, from dating long distance to his move from Manitoba to the United States and finally to the couple’s struggle and heartbreak as he was diagnosed with angiosarcoma merely a year after their marriage. Sieglitz’s heartfelt tribute will take you on a journey of love and loss, and is a story of her incredible hope through it all. To find this book locally, check out Aaron’s Book Store in Lititz. -M.M.

What's your favorite food to grill or smoke?
“Timothy Weishaar’s cedar plank salmon with avocado and strawberry salsa! I don’t grill. That would end badly.” -Darren Trautman, Harrisburg
