The theme: Autumn abundance, carried out extravagantly. Brilliant copper, burgundy and mahogany notes swirled throughout, with frothy, pale blue highlights and a vine motif. Geometric invites set the “outdoor, but top-notch” tone, and visuals carried out the starburst S&C logo.
The details: Geometric orbs dangled, copper vessels glimmered, and magnolia leaf garlands swagged. Dahlias, roses, amaranths and dusty miller complemented killer boutonnieres of ranunculus, scabiosa or celosia. Braised espresso-rubbed short rib, halibut or grilled eggplant with sweet potatoes were delivered to handsome, crisply styled tables. Plus five kinds of pie, spiked hot cider and blankets.
The threads: A beaded illusion gown woven with tiny pearlescent beads in a shimmering floral pattern topping a full silk chiffon skirt. Bridesmaids in filmy Jenny Yoo gowns. Men sporting slim-fit suits in dark grey, a giant step up from the best man’s “hardcore camo sniper ghillie suit” when he sprang out of the bushes during the proposal. (No wonder the cops stopped him.)
The hitch: No dessert for the happy couple (too busy), no pumpkin beer anywhere (too popular), and a challenging bouquet: the copper ribbon Sam insisted on having in the lavish bridal bouquet (too much time on Pinterest) was so heavy she “should have done more push-ups.”
The after party/honeymoon: Overnight in the farmhouse, brunch the next day with everyone. Then off to hike in the snow “discussing” if they should watch Halloween movies in their remote cabin. Samantha’s first-ever spa visit, where, embarrassed, she kept laughing “to make it not seem so weird.” Next stop: Antigua.
