In their 2014 color report, experts from Pantone announced trend-setting shades. Here are 22 colorful ideas in three of this year’s hottest hues for your wedding festivities.
Sand, blush and cream
Sand, one of Pantone’s color picks, is described as “a lightly toasted and amiable neutral.” This earth tone, when paired with warm shades of blush and cream, is perfect for a sophisticated and romantic, yet carefree affair.
The Molberger invitation suite was inspired by “a mix of sophistication and old charm,” according to stationer Michael Musser of Anticipate Invitations (www.anticipateinvitations.com) in Marietta. The set features a custom die-cut invitation with metallic gold ink and mismatched envelopes for a “shabby chic” vibe.
Gorgeous tiers with tons of texture add complexity to a muted color palette in this House of Clarendon (www.houseofclarendon.com) cake. Wondering how to ensure that your muted palette is far from ho-hum? Add lots of drama in your accessories, like these jewel-encrusted heels. Photo by Brooke Courtney Photography, www.brookecourtney.com.
Sand, blush and cream pair perfectly with warm metallics like gold and bronze, as seen in this reception designed by Shumaker PDT (www.shumakerpdt.com). Gilded Chiavari chairs, subtly patterned linens from Special Occasions and Queen Street Linens (www.specialo.com) and dramatic floral arrangements from Petals with Style (www.petalswithstyle.com) add to the fairytale wedding feel. Cayenne, royal blue and pink
The Pantone shade cayenne is labeled a “high-pitched red” that “adds a dash of spicy heat to neutrals.” When combined in a palette with royal blue and touches of pink, cayenne makes for a punchy, colorful celebration.
A ceramic plate printed with a sweet message (this one says “to have and to hold”) is a small, sentimental touch to add to your ceremony. Also, strings that tie on to the rings ensure that your ring bearer in royal blue gingham won’t misplace the jewels. Photo by Leslie Gilbert Photography, www.lesliegilbertphotography.com.
With a punchy palette, you can get away with using antique elements like crocheted fabric and milk glass without looking “granny.” Layer a lace runner over royal blue linens, and add full floral arrangement in shades of pink and orange-red, like this centerpiece created by Wildflowers by Design (www.wildflowersbydesign.com). Besides the fact that white wedding shoes are impractical for most outdoor affairs, they don’t pack much personality either. Select accessories that are uniquely “you,” like these strappy peep-toe sandals in royal blue fabric with cayenne and white polka dots. Photo by Brooke Courtney Photography, www.brookecourtney.com.
Add a pop of red to your printed goods with a sophisticated wax seal. The Reynaga suite by Anticipate Invitations (www.anticipateinvitations.com) features an invitation, RSVP card and envelope that are printed with rich blue ink and bundled with a cayenne wrap for an “Americana” feel.

A fabric fringe garland is an easy DIY project for wedding décor. Simply cut strips of cloth or ribbon in cayenne, royal blue and pink, tie them to twine and hang throughout your reception venue. Photo by Brooke Courtney Photography, www.brookecourtney.com.
Hemlock, peach and aqua
Pantone’s hemlock is a “summery, ornamental green” that is “very different from the greens of recent seasons.” Paired with trendy peach and aqua, this soft hue gives an ethereal touch to any outdoor wedding.
The William Arthur suite by persnickety invitation studio (www.persnicketyinc.com) features a save the date card and invitation in this cheery shade of green, as well as elegant calligraphy and a leather bow detail.
The chalkboard craze is far from over; just choose a punchy hemlock hue rather than the traditional black. Hand lettering makes these especially charming. Photo by Jeremy Hess Photographers, www.jeremyhessphotographers.com.
Who says flower girls must wear frilly lace dresses in white? Opt for a more playful print, like this hemlock, peach and aqua floral, for a dress that can be re-worn post-wedding day. Photo by Kylene Lynn Photography, www.kylenelynn.com.
