4. Cooking Skills
No home is complete without a kitchen and Clare House is a home for mothers and children in need. Recently, with the leadership of kitchen designer Valerie Kissinger of Dimensional Designs Unlimited, Clare House remodeled its Harmony House kitchen. It started when the Hohenadels, working on a remodel of their own with Kissinger, donated cherry cabinetry which was still in great shape. Granite countertops came from Natural Stoneworks, new vinyl flooring was installed by Bloom Floorist, and new paint was donated by Sherwin Williams and applied by Andy Bilt. Students from Thaddeus Stevens installed the new plumbing for a sink donated by Thomas Somerville. Martin Appliance donated a new fridge and dishwasher. Now, mothers and their children can prepare and share meals in a beautiful kitchen filled with love. Clare House’s goal is to provide lifelong skills for mothers on the road to self-sufficiency. Recipe and kitchen skills, which are part of that goal, can now be built in a new and beautiful environment.
