When local resident Danielle Keaton went in search of fashionable, comfortable knit hats for her mother while she was undergoing chemotherapy treatments, she came back empty-handed. So, she decided to take the matter into her own hands—literally. Keaton’s Etsy shop of knitted goods offers slouchy beanies, headbands, matching mother-daughter hats and even easy-to-follow knitting patterns, all of which provide funds for an important effort. With the proceeds from her online store, Keaton purchases supplies to create free knit hats for cancer patients and ships them to anyone in need, anywhere in the United States. Whether you’re looking for a cozy head covering while in chemo, or simply for a new accessory to keep you warm this winter, don’t hesitate to get to know Bo Peep. - H.W.

Strike it Rich'
Newly opened consignment boutique Poor Little Rich Girl is definitely not short on style. This business has opened its doors in the Foxshire Plaza and is selling some serious brand names like Coach, Kate Spade and even Gucci. Owners Diane McConnell and her daughter Courtney provide “glam style on a budget," offering clothing, jewelry, shoes, handbags and accessories to match your personal style. The fashion doesn’t end when you walk out the door, either. Diane has started “Shop your Closet” as well, which is a consulting business that helps women utilize the clothing they already own. Whether you’re looking to consign, restock or just rework your closet, this women-owned business is the perfect place to try. - A.G.

No Bull
Located on East Main Street in Lititz is a locals’ favorite that will transport you across the pond. Owner Paul Pendyck opened the doors to Bulls Head Public House in 2010 and now, more than four years later, the traditional English pub has expanded to meet the demand of truly satisfied customers. Bulls Head has doubled the size of its interior with a new lounge area and has also extended an outside seating area along Zun Anker Alley. Despite the changes, one thing has stayed the same: the atmosphere. Bulls Head offers an authentic British menu with dishes like bangers and mash, fish and chips and their famous Scotch egg. The bar is fully stocked with a rotating menu of 14 different beers on tap at any time, as well as two cask beers and more than 70 varieties of bottled beer. No doubt, Bulls Head is truly aces. - A.G.

Head North
Big changes are in store for one of Lancaster’s most popular learning centers. In June, the North Museum of Natural History & Science announced plans for the renovation and reinvention of the museum along with a new state-of-the-art planetarium. Construction, which began in October, will require the museum on College Avenue to close through the end of the year. During this time, the North Museum has moved downtown and become Nano North, a temporary location within the Pennsylvania College of Art & Design. The good news is that you’ll still be able to see many of your favorite animals, including snakes, turtles and skinks, just to name a few. There will be interactive play stations and discovery boxes, along with a fascinating exhibition on nano science. And just in time for your holiday shopping, the Nano North gift shop will be open and will feature fan favorites like Astronaut Ice Cream, Robotic Claws and Break Your Own Geodes, along with new and exciting items for your junior scientist.
