Red Carpet Ready
Relaxation of mind and spirit is the focus of Angela Gualtieri, owner of Red Salon of Mechanicsburg. The full service salon includes haircare, nail care and skin and makeup services. Red aims to bring a classic Hollywood feel to the Central Pennsylvania area, providing customers glitz and glamour with an edge. “My husband and I opened Red with the vision of a contemporary, upscale environment that still feels warm and inviting,” says Gualtieri. After working in the field for over 25 years, Gualtieri was given the opportunity to open her own store. She previously worked as the manager of Posh Salon and Spa at The Shops at Walden in Lower Allen Township. In November, Red will celebrate two years of business. -SR

Old School New
Owners Pete and Liz Monahan were careful to preserve the integrity of the unique, Romanesque design of the building originally designated as The Meade School. The late 19th century inn boasts 12-foot ceilings original to the building, as well as a battlefield tour, a spa and golf offerings. Guests are sure to enjoy an experience incorporating a rich history with modern amenities. -KW

A New Brew of Barbeque
A new craft beer hot spot has hit the Lancaster scene at Plain & Fancy’s Smokehouse BBQ & Brews. Thomas E. Strauss Inc. converted nearly 220 seats of the previous lower-level dining room from the Bird-in-Hand restaurant into an additional 20-seat bar and smoker. The new menu boasts pulled pork, house made barbeque sauces and craft brewed beers. The new restaurant gives customers another reason to visit the nearly 10-acre Plain & Fancy property, including the two restaurants, Aaron and Jessica’s Buggy Rides, Amish Experience Theatre, Amish County Homestead and AmishView Inn and Suites. -SR
