There’s a surprise inside this kitchen’s antique-style Asian armoire.
“It’s one of the most unique projects we’ve done,” says Sandra Steiner-Houck, president of interior design firm Steiner-Houck & Associates. “People’s jaws drop when the owner opens the doors to reveal a Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer.”

Steiner-Houck, a designer for 37 years, says her firm’s kitchen designs are never reproduced and have included countless creative elements: fire vortexes, a hibachi island, fondue island, indoor pizza oven and much more. “Kitchens are where everybody congregates because they are central to the home,” says Steiner-Houck. “For many, many years, kitchens have been considered the heart of the home.”
