Works-In-Progress Choreography Showwing
to
Move It Studio 19-21 East King Street, Second Floor, Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17602
This February the Movement Gallery at Move It Studio will host a Works-InProgress showing, a gallery event featuring the craft of local choreographers and dancers. The showcase takes place Friday, February 13 with performances at 7 and 8 pm; this event is free and open to the public with a light wine reception following. Seating is limited and can be reserved through the Move It Studio website.
Studio Director and professionally trained dancer Marie Cleaves Rothacker invited a number of Lancaster-based choreographers to debut dance works at various stages of completion at Move It Studio, providing a preview of works to be performed at venues throughout the spring. A number of the choreographed pieces will be shown in completion at The Ware Center during Downtown Dances in March, Franklin & Marshall College during the Spring Dance Concert in April, and at Messiah College in February among others.
The Works-In-Progress showing provides choreographers the chance to show new work in an informal setting while still developing the pieces themselves. Visitors will be given a rare glimpse into the creative process that goes into dance performances with a short talkback afterwards. Participating choreographers include Jennifer Berlet of Netco Dance Company; Regina Bowe and Travis Love of Footprints Performing Arts; Marie Cleaves Rothacker of Move It Studio and Messiah College; Stacia Sleight of Remote Dance Company; Marian West, Independent Choroegrapher; and Hannah Weissler and Elizabeth Yutzey of Franklin and Marshall College.
