Susquehanna Chorale Adult Auditions
The Susquehanna Chorale, a nationally acclaimed adult vocal ensemble based in south-central Pennsylvania, has set aside two Mondays in June for auditions for the 37-voice choral ensemble. Artistic Director Linda Tedford will personally hear the auditions, which have been scheduled for the evening of June 13 and June 27 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Hershey, PA.
There are openings in each of the four vocal sections (SATB). Interested singers are invited to begin the audition process at the Susquehanna Chorale website: https://www.susquehannachorale.org/auditions. The web page includes links to the online audition application form; for more information contact the chorale via email at sc@susquehannachorale.org.
The Susquehanna Chorale performs several concerts annually. Musical selections are drawn from a wide variety of musical sources and languages, and choir members are encouraged to perform at a high level, according to Tedford. The group rehearses weekly on Monday nights at Holy Trinity Lutheran church in Hershey. In addition, singers are asked to devote time to personal practice.
“When we come together on Monday evenings, the magic happens,” said Susquehanna Chorale soprano Karen Lynch. “There is something special about making music together, and we are able to communicate on a profound emotional level with each other and our audiences. I’m so excited to welcome new members, because I know the joy we are going to share!”
Since its founding by Tedford in 1981, the Susquehanna Chorale has been praised for its “ethereal blend,” “unparalleled tone,” and strong emotional connection to the music.
The Susquehanna Chorale is a recipient of Chorus America’s most prestigious award, the Margaret Hillis Achievement Award for Choral Excellence, and has appeared in concert with the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra. Conductor Tedford was honored by the American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania with the Elaine Brown Award for lifelong commitment to excellence and leadership in the choral art. In 2013, she received Theatre Harrisburg’s Award for Distinguished Service to the Arts in the Capital Region. The Chorale is funded in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
