Join Terell Stafford, artistic director and world renowned trumpet player, and the Jazz Orchestra of Philadelphia (JOP), in a celebratory concert for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday. Joining JOP will be Rutha Harris, one of the original Freedom Singers, and Messiah’s own gospel choir, United Voices of Praise, Eric Byrd, conductor. JOP is an orchestra of 17 stellar, homegrown musical artists dedicated to presenting the highest quality jazz to the greatest number of people and is designed to preserve, represent and continue Philadelphia’s unique, rich jazz sound and tradition. JOP aims to become the face of Philadelphia jazz, establishing the city as a nationally and internationally recognized destination for jazz performance.
