The appreciation for a handwritten letter is timeless. As far back as the Middle Ages, artists have been paying special attention to the alphabet by creating Illuminated Manuscript. This class looks at the alphabet as an opportunity for art, using a letter as the frame, artists will create letterforms that are made up of objects or environments that are of their particular interest. Through the use of drawing mediums like ink and watercolor, or painting mediums like acrylic, you will develop skills necessary to create beautiful hand-crafted letters. Applications of this skill can be found in event invitations, monograms, book arts, or stand-alone pieces of art to be displayed on the wall. Basic drawing experience recommended.
