GETTYSBURG FIRKIN FEST
to
inside Valentine Hall of the Lutheran Theological Seminary Ridge, Gettysburg, Pennsylvania 17325
A firkin, which is derived from the Dutch word vierdekijn (meaning fourth), is actually a small barrel of beer that is one-quarter the size of a stand full barrel of beer. Other than its smaller size, a firkin is typically dedicated to housing "true ale" (i.e., cask-conditioned ale), or beer that has not been cold-filtered, pasteurized and carbonated by outside equipment. The ale beer that is housed inside the firkin is naturally carbonated by its resident yeast and its ingredients have not been processed in any way outside of simple fermentation by the yeast.
Held from 6-9pm, the Gettysburg Firkin Fest will provide a VIP experience to a very limited number 250 guests. Unlike the Gettysburg Brew Fest which offers 2,000 General Admission tickets, the Firkin event will feature only VIP-level amenities like catered appetizers, a custom sampling glass (not a standard pint or mini sampler), and far fewer guests enjoying samples.
