Butterfly Container Workshop

Cumberland County Ag Extension Allen Road, Carlisle, Pennsylvania 17013
National Pollinator Week is June 19 to 25, 2017. To mark the occasion, join Penn State Master Gardeners in Cumberland County for a Butterfly Container Workshop on Saturday, June 17, at the Cumberland County Extension office, 310 Allen Road, Carlisle. Two sessions are offered: morning from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. or afternoon from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m.
At the Butterfly Container Workshop, you will make and take home a container with both butterfly nectar and larval host plants. Learn about the life cycle of the butterfly and the best plants for attracting butterflies and other pollinating insects to your garden.
The workshop will be held outdoors, weather permitting, near the back entrance of the building. We provide a 14-inch container, potting soil, and plants, including parsley, pentas, lantana, and colorful flowering annuals and herbs.
Please register by no later than Friday, June 9. Space is limited, and classes fill quickly. Choose either the morning or the afternoon session. The registration fee of $14.00 includes the materials – container, plants, and potting soil – to make your container. Penn State is committed to affirmative action, equal opportunity, and the diversity of its workforce.
To register, please call the Cumberland County Extension office at 717-240-6500. Visit http://extension.psu.edu/cumberland for more information about this and other gardening programs, or find us on Facebook at CumberlandExtension and CumberlandPerryMG.
