The Theme: Evening–elegant and spare, urban yet romantic, with bursts of nature in green, white, and rose. The Details: The venue’s green walls, terraces, and catacombs lent drama to every original touch, from the vows to the dress to the bride/groom gifts (a “Game of Thrones”−style portrait and a bust). Passed hors d’oeuvres, frozen rosé (frosé) and a raw bar led to a killer menu and a naked 4-tier cake with black raspberry Chambord. Luscious bouquets thick with peonies. Hanging floral rings. The season’s first sprig of lavender, to calm the bride. The ceremony: The groom tosses aside his vows, yells, “I LOVE HER!” An actor/director, he improvises, “Meeting you was the best thing that ever happened to me…I’m a better person because you’re in my life” (wipes tear, tries to kiss her). Bride: “Wait, you can’t kiss me yet!” A stomp on a wine glass and a surprise carrying the bride and groom up on chairs. The Threads: Spectacular tailored dress with Israeli designer detailing. As in Israel, the skirt’s slit was high. Laura had it sewn up three inches; held over one arm, so gorgeously flirty. Sparkling silver heels featured blue on the bottom. The men sharp in three-piece suits; the groom in custom navy with a white tie. The Get-Away: After-party at Tellus 360. Safaris in Kenya, where they ate breakfast with a giraffe, saw the last male northern white rhino, and enjoyed beach time in Zanzibar.
