The Theme: Rustic elegance; berry and navy with touches of gold. An outdoor ceremony, with autumn in all its glory. The Details: This couple’s styles met in the middle: champagne and beer; diamonds and wood; rosettes on the graceful bride’s (gluten-free, dairy-free) cake and Oreo cheesecake for the groom; a honeymoon at a luxury spa in the southern mountains. Chic-modern invites with feathers and deeply hued flowers that heralded the wedding’s tone and bold florals. The outdoor chapel, farm, and romantically lit barn offered an ideal backdrop. The threads: Lauren’s mermaid ball gown was exactly what she didn’t want…but found to be exactly right: a bodice of silver beads and pearl clusters led to dreamy asymmetric tiers. Beautifully accessorized (the bride does work for a jeweler). The food: Amazing apps like roast duck with fig jam on polenta cakes, jerk chicken salad with mango on plantain chips, and ahi tuna with rice and wasabi cream sauce on cucumber chips were gluten-free, but only if you had to know. The florals: A mix of romance and spiky highlights, rich with texture: proteas, leucadendron, amaranthus, astilbe, burgundy dahlias, ranunculus, and black magic roses. Deep berry florals on the guest cake. The Unity Ceremony: A lasting art vase will be fused from the colored glass beads the couple poured together. The Serendipity: Farmer’s Almanac forecast: severe thunderstorms, chance of frost. Actual: 75 degrees.
