Stephen and Ben wanted to wed in Harrisburg, the place where they met, started dating, got engaged, and still live. They met through a mutual political friend (both Ben and Stephen have a passion for politics and government). Stephen surprised Ben at his 40th birthday by proposing in front of 100 of their friends and family members. Stephen and Ben wanted to reflect their faith traditions while getting married in their home church, Market Square Presbyterian Church. The celebration proceeded to the Civic Club of Harrisburg for the reception that was reminiscent of the Gatsby era. They wanted to create a classy feeling, and the colors were centered around champagne and merlot, which the bridal party wore. Stephen and Ben went with traditional tuxes. The Great Gatsby-themed, multi-tiered cake from Couture Cakery had two different flavors: chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and white cake with salted caramel buttercream. Stephen and Ben’s favorite part of the day was the 30 minutes before the wedding, when they walked along the river to soak up the excitement of the day. There were many times they found themselves just enjoying the peace of a moment. The day after their wedding, they left for their honeymoon in Greece, where they visited Athens, Mykonos, and Santorini.
