If there is one thing I am not good at, it is doing my hair. I am good with using a curling wand and a straightener, but beyond that my abilities are pretty elementary.
I have tried over the years to perfect certain things from simple teasing (I am slowly but surely getting better) to fancy, intricate hairstyles. I am so envious of the gals I see that have these super adorable hairdo’s that look like it took no effort at all. Those are usually the hairstyles that end with me in tears and a basic ponytail.
Every year when the holidays roll around I make an effort to try something new with my hair for our different holiday parties we attend. Our parties are anything but fancy, but there is something about the holiday season that motivates me to get even more dolled up from my shoes to my hair.
Lucky for you, in all of my attempts over the years at the perfect but easy updo, I have found three that I have actually done. That only means one thing for you- if I can do it, so can you.
This one definitely works the best with longer hair. My hair is currently shoulder length which makes it a little bit difficult to work.
I have been a longtime fan of Lauren Conrad, mainly because she speaks to my level, and doesn’t share things that are too far out of reach for the average Jane (meaning you don’t need to have a makeup artist or hair stylist on speed dial). While I had a little trouble with this the first time I did it (I felt the burn in my arms!) it became easier and easier each time I did this! I’ve had this pinned to my Pinterest board for about 4 years and seem to reach for it time and again.
I think this one is the easiest, and one that you can do with shorter hair as well. It doesn’t take a lot of time at all. One thing that I have done with this particular updo is changed the part of my hair. Parting your hair on the side for this style gives it a dressier, more sophisticated feel, whereas parting in the middle gives it a more laid back but dressy vibe. Again, super easy and doesn’t take long at all.
