8 Best Self-Care Morning Routines
Though the perfect morning routine can vary from person to person, finding the right routine can set the pace for an awesome day. I’m not much of a morning person but this AM routine I’ve prepared for myself keeps me organized and excited for the day. Hopefully, this routine will help you too!
Waking Up Early
Getting in the habit of waking up early can make a world of difference – trust me, I know! For one, you don’t feel rushed to get ready for work, you have enough time to do other things, and you even have time to clear your mind before heading out. Some people even like to take a quick jog before starting their day.

Usually when I wake up early, I like to get up 2-3 hours before I have to head out. This gives me a chance to sit and practice mindfulness before I actually get ready. While practicing mindfulness, I am able to pray, breathe deeply, and thank God for my life.
Time to Meditate
Meditating has quickly become one of my favorite things to do every day. It’s not just a staple in my morning routine, it’s also a staple in my nightly self-care routine. Whenever I meditate, it gives me the chance to fully clear my mind from all of the outside noise and be in the present moment. If you would like to try meditation for the first time, YouTube has some awesome meditation videos you can watch.

Making the Bed
Sometimes, it’s the simple things like making your bed that helps you stay orderly and organized. When your bed is made, you feel ready to jumpstart your day. Even though making your bed can seem like a small task, it sets the tone for the rest of your entire day. When you tackle a small accomplishment like this, it will encourage you to tackle another task during the day.
Get Ready
Getting ready every morning can include a lot of tasks. First, you have to brush your teeth, shower, and then get dressed for school/work. Getting ready also helps when you have your clothes already laid out the night before so you can dress up quickly the next day and go. Moreover, it is important that you give yourself enough time to do each of the morning tasks without rushing.

Eat Breakfast
I’m not going to lie; I struggle with eating breakfast every morning. Sometimes, I don’t feel like eating so early or I don’t know what to eat for breakfast. Therefore, I’ve gotten into the habit of eating easy breakfast foods like bananas, yogurt, oatmeal, and eggs. Since I’m already feeling sluggish in the mornings, easy breakfast foods keep me content until lunch time.
Drinking Water
Though this seems like a no-brainer, it’s important to stay hydrated -- not just in the mornings, but every day. I don’t know about you, but water tastes refreshing in the mornings especially after a tasty breakfast. Sometimes, I even carry a water bottle with me filled with water so that I can stay hydrated and alert during the day.
Put Your Phone Aside
If you can, try to stay away from your phone in the mornings. I only hear the phone go off when it’s alerting me to wake up or when there’s an immediate traffic alert. Apart from that, I’m really conscious about staying away from the internet or social media. Though it’s hard to put the phone aside in the mornings, it does wonders for mental wellness.

Create a To-Do List
The last thing I like to do before heading out is to create a to-do list of the tasks that I will like to complete for the day. I often do a brain dump of everything I had in mind from the day before that I didn’t get to finish yet and then I get to work. It helps me remember things and finish tasks a lot quicker.
