Happy October! Fall is officially here and it's time to get cozy. Here are five ways to cozy up your home for fall.

1. Crack those windows, let the cool breeze in, and get ready to snuggle by pulling out all the extra blankets & pillows. This time of year I love to add blankets and quilts to each room. I'll add a quilt at the end of a bed, or some extra blankets in a basket in the family room. Trading out pillows for those in faux fur, velvet or knit can add an instant cozy factor to the exact same couch or bed.

2. Bring out the candles or mix up some potpourri on your stovetop to give your home a warm inviting scent and bring the outside in with branches, twigs or even faux stems from your local craft or home goods store.

3. Set up a coffee or hot chocolate bar on your kitchen counter. It doesn't have to be anything fancy, just gather together your favorite mugs and supplies and arrange in one special spot. This will make it easy to mix up a warm beverage that will welcome you or a guest in from the brisk outdoors.

4. Layer a rug over an existing rug or carpet to add depth, texture and warmth. You can add small, affordable rugs to either side of the bed, which are especially nice if you have hardwood floors that are cold in the fall and winter months.

5. Don't forget the bathroom. Add a cozy robe to a hook on your bathroom door, maybe splurge on a some new plush towels and don't forget a big jar of bath salts or bath bombs that are ready and waiting for a long soak in the bathtub on a cold evening.
