I am a firm believer that everyone is good at something. I have always excelled at shopping.
Throughout my career as an interior designer and retailer, one of the perks has always been merchandising my showroom floor and sourcing specific merchandise for design projects and clients.
Hardly a week goes by when someone doesn’t ask me “Where did that come from?” or “How do you find such unique and interesting things?”
The answer? I am always shopping.
It can be as simple as a Sunday afternoon looking for vintage finds at a flea market, a cool shop I stumble upon while on vacation or a dedicated shopping trip to one of the larger designer markets, such as New York City, Chicago or High Point, North Carolina.
Once, while on trip to France (to take a break from business mind you), I ended up shipping an entire crate of furniture, fabrics and treasures back to the US with specific clients in mind.
Like I said, I’m always shopping.
