Community Corner
Though there are many ways to assist those who are battling cancer, one organization is working specifically to help them feel healthy and attractive during treatment. The Look Good, Feel Better program was launched in 1989 by the Personal Care Products Council to help individuals maintain their confidence and self-esteem despite the appearance-related side effects of cancer treatment. The Lancaster Unit of the American Cancer Society has proudly participated in this program for several years. Look Good, Feel Better workshops teach patients how to take care of their skin during treatment, provide makeup consultations and offer information on hair loss and suggestions for using wigs or headscarves. Each participant receives a beauty kit that contains complimentary products from various cosmetic industries. A New Hue
Looking for fresh fashion? Instead of shopping online or traveling to a metropolitan area, check out a new addition to the York boutique scene. Located across from Central Market, Indigo Bleu is bringing new trends to your hometown. Zarah Brooks, a York County native, opened the store just months after graduating from York College. She renovated the space into a women’s clothing and accessories boutique that has an industrial, eclectic and botanical feel. Brooks has always had a flair for fashion, and the store features looks with her signature “modern bohemian” style. The merchandise at Indigo Bleu is constantly changing, so you’re destined to find a unique piece you love at a price that won't break your bank. So next time you’re in the downtown York area, or need a fashion forward outfit, be sure to check out Indigo Bleu to support a local business that's bringing big city looks to York's burgeoning metro secene. - B.B.

Nice Slice
In the mood for pizza? Stop by DiCarlo’s in York for a slice of heaven. This family-run business has been at it since they first opened up shop in Ohio in 1945. Over half a century later, their most recent location opened in York on North George Street earlier this year. Time-tested recipes keep customers coming back again and again. For example, stop in to order one slice or a full 16-piece pizza, each served with provolone cheese and your favorite combo of toppings. The menu also offers typical pizza shop classics like calzones and cheesy bread sticks. Looking for something different than your usual? Try the popular baked wedge sandwich or signature pepperoni rolls. It’s safe to say that after 68 years in the business, DiCarlo’s definitely knows how to make a pizza pie. - A.G.

Restaurant, Refreshed
Change is a good thing; at least it is for one of downtown Harrisburg’s longtime favorite restaurants, Stock’s on 2nd. This past summer, owners Stephen and KJ Weinstock decided to close the doors of their 16-year-old business to revamp their vision, all in an unbelievably fast one-week timeframe. As a result, the former upscale dining establishment has now been turned into a chef-inspired farm-to-fork gastropub that features an American whiskey bar with an extensive craft cocktail menu. Dedicated to improving Harrisburg and adding its economy, the Weinstocks pride themselves on using local food sources that keep their menu farm fresh. In fact, 90 percent of their products come from within 90 miles of the restaurant. Interested in visiting? Expect an atmosphere with a rustic feel to complement their prohibition-era cocktail menu with drinks like the Bourbon Bramble and Moscow Mule. - A.G.
