The first in a summer series of regional one-tank trips, Lititz was recently named “America’s Coolest Small Town” by Budget Travel Magazine. Of course, we already knew Lititz was cool (one of our Style staffers is from there, and we all enjoy visiting). Here's our bucket list of the top 10 stops for planning your trip.
1. Second Fridays & Special Events
Lititz is home to many special events throughout the year (including their old fashioned Fourth of July fireworks display, Chocolate Walk in the fall, and the Fire and Ice Festival in January). On the second Friday of each month, downtown bustles during “Lovin’ Lititz Every Second” from 5 to 9pm.

2. Wilbur Chocolate
Claims to fame: The Wilbur bud—get the mix of milk and dark chocolate. This chocolate factory, over 125 years old, is responsible for the chocolate scented streets of Lititz. Tour the museum and take home sweet souvenirs.

4. Tomato Pie Café
When in Lititz…get the tomato pie! Trust us; it’s not pizza, and it’s one of the best things you will ever eat. Look for the cheery yellow and green Victorian building. Get amped up on coffee served there, specially roasted by downtown Lancaster’s Square One Coffee. Or try the herbed lemonade, or many other specialty café drinks. Sit at the old soda bar or outside in the Tomato Patch.

5. Bulls Head Public House
Part of the historic General Sutter Inn and Restaurant, this authentic British pub has a cozy, neighborhood-bar atmosphere, not to mention the 14 rotating taps of craft beers and over 70 bottled beers. If you go, try the Scotch egg. They’re also known for pub specialties like fish and chips, burgers, and pub nachos, and they have lighter fare like salads as well.

Stroll down Main Street and visit a few of our faves including Café Chocolate, Waltz Vineyards, Tiger’s Eye for artistic accessories and fashions, Zest for foodies, Glitz for gifts, and Candyology for a kids’ treat. Get off the beaten path to discover more shopping such as Sonnie’s Secret and Clementine’s.
7. Julius Sturgis Pretzel Bakery
Known as America’s first pretzel bakery, founded in 1861. Take the tour and try your hand at twisting your own creations. Just be sure to save room for some salty souvenirs!
