Hey you, York folks: Looking for a quick lunch fix with some piquancy? Stroll to Central Market York for a Firecracker Chicken Salad from The Busy Bee! Chef Andrew Barnes has been creating variations of this salad since the opening of his Central Market location, each reinvention paired with a clever name change. The current edition? The quirky “Return of the Son of Firecracker.” This tantalizing Asian-inspired salad is composed of chicken layered on a bed of greens, topped with garlic, cashews, red onion, carrots, crispy noodles and sesame vinaigrette—but the real “pow” factor comes from Barnes’ ever-evolving Thai chili sauce. With a base of three sauces—a hot sauce, a sweet garlic and chili sauce, and a soy reduction infused with green tea—the Thai chili concoction provides this dish with “an explosion” of spicy, sweet, sour and tangy flavors. This just in: The Busy Bee has paired up with Holy Hound Taproom to serve this dish, along with the rest of their menu, during evening hours.
