Leafy Lemon Chiller
Makes 1
12 basil leaves
6 mint leaves
1 teaspoon superfine sugar
Ice
½ ounce fresh lemon juice
2 ounces Faber Citrus Vodka (Pennsylvania product)
Seltzer
Muddle basil, mint, and sugar in the bottom of a shaker. Fill with ice and add lemon juice and vodka. Shake and strain into a rocks glass filled with fresh ice. Top with seltzer; stir gently. Garnish with additional mint or basil.
Strawberry Rhubarb Gin Fizz
Makes 1
1½ ounces Bluecoat American Dry Gin (Pennsylvania product)
3 ounces seltzer
1½ ounces strawberry rhubarb simple syrup*
Ice
1 fresh strawberry, for garnish
Combine first three ingredients in a tall glass filled with ice; stir gently. Garnish with fresh strawberry.
*Add 1 cup each of chopped, fresh rhubarb and strawberries, ¾ cup raw sugar, and 1 cup water to a saucepan. Bring to a boil and simmer 10 minutes until fruit is broken down. Strain and chill.
Margarita Sangria
Serves 6
1 medium orange
2 medium lemons
5 limes
1 750-mL bottle Prophecy Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough
¾ cup Tres Agaves Tequila Blanco
½ cup Cointreau
½ cup agave nectar
2 cups lemon-lime soda, chilled
Slice oranges, lemons, and limes into wheels and place in a large pitcher. Using a heavy wooden spoon, muddle the fruit until juicy. Add wine, tequila, Cointreau, and agave; stir. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours. Add lemon-lime soda before serving. Enjoy in margarita or rocks glasses rimmed with agave nectar and salt, if desired.
Black-Eyed Rye
Makes 1
1½ ounces Sagamore Spirit Rye Whiskey
½ ounce lime juice
¾ ounce blackberry syrup*
3 ounces ginger beer
Fresh mint leaves
Blackberries
Combine first three ingredients in a shaker filled with ice. Shake and double strain into a Collins glass. Top with ginger beer. Garnish with mint leaves and blackberries.
*Bring 1 cup water to a boil. Add 1 cup sugar and 1 cup blackberries. Simmer, strain, and chill.
Old Fashioned Breeze
Makes 1
2 ½ ounces Jim Beam Black Bourbon
1 ounce simple syrup
1 dash Angostura Bitters
1 ounce fresh orange juice
2 ounces cranberry juice
2 each, orange slice and cherry
Muddle one orange slice and one cherry in the bottom of a shaker. Add ice and first four ingredients and shake vigorously. Pour cranberry juice into a rocks glass filled with ice. Strain contents of shaker on top. Garnish with remaining orange slice and cherry.
