Materials:
- red non-toxic paint
- craft paper
- black marker
1. Have your child dip his/her hands in red paint, then stamp their hands at either side of the top third of the paper.
2. (Warning: this is the messy part!) Have your child dip his/her foot in the red paint, then stamp the foot with the toes facing the edge opposite the fingertips.
3. Connect the lobster “claws” to the “body” with a swipe of red paint on each side and allow to dry.
4. Once the paint has dried, with black marker, draw the lobster’s eyes between its arms and add stripes to its body.
Clip It!
For those of you who are running out of free space on the front of your refrigerator, but who still love to display your children’s (or grandchildren’s) masterpieces, we have an adorable DIY solution for you. Try this quick, customizable project: the gallery frame.
Materials:
- spray paint (optional)
- picture frames (slightly larger in size than your child’s piece of art)
- fabric or scrapbook paper
- magnetic clips
Tools:
- pencil
- scissors
- hot glue gun
Instructions:
1. Spray paint the picture frame and magnetic clip the color of your choice (we like the silver magnetic clip and burlap, so we skipped the second part of this step). Allow to dry.
2. Once dry, disassemble your picture frame. Trace the cardboard back of the picture frame on your fabric, then cut to size.
3. Without replacing the glass, place the fabric within the picture frame, and reassemble.
4. Hot glue the magnetic part of your clip to the fabric at the top, just inside the frame. Be liberal with the hot glue so that your clip does not come off. Allow to dry.
5. Clip your pic and enjoy!
