The nation’s food truck frenzy comes to Lancaster via the Urban Olive Mediterranean Grub Hub. It’s actually been around for almost three years. And after finally trying it out, we’re convinced it won’t be going anywhere (other than new locations!) for quite some time.
“I saw food trucks in other areas [like Philadelphia and other cities] but it was a trip to Germany that convinced me to try something like pitas. They served Middle Eastern doners [meat in a pita] that were simply amazing, out of trucks and little shacks along the street,” says owner Christine Hess.
Urban Olive’s flavorful falafel is made from scratch with lentils, chickpeas and Middle Eastern spices, served up in a pita wrap with a unique spicy olive relish and a cooling, tasty tzatziki, while lettuce, tomato and onion add a crispy crunch. The falafel comes as a salad too. Meat eaters can add chicken in the “Emma Special.” All are just six bucks.
Hess serves up her sister Wendy Jo’s homemade cookies for dessert.
Falafel fans find out where Urban Olive will be via Facebook or the website urbanolive.net.
As for where you can find Hess next: “We are getting into doing lots of events [like the Humane League of Lancaster’s Tailwagger’s Trot in October], parties, and even a few weddings. It’s a lot of fun and I’d love to do more.”
