The Olde Greenfield Inn was Once the Clymer Family Farm, and Kristen Hottenstein says the Clymers still come in and tell stories of their birth here, pointing out where their bedrooms were. Kristen, who now helps run the family restaurant with her father Ray and mother Sue Hottenstein, is also in charge of the award-winning wine list (Olde Greenfield Inn has won 11 Wine Spectator Awards in a row). Guests in the know choose to dine in the wine cellar, which seats two to eight people. The other coveted seats, she explains, are the “balcony seats,” which are literally located on the 1780 era farmhouse’s former balcony (which has since been closed in with the addition of a modern bar, another dining room and a stellar seasonal patio).
Open for brunch, lunch and dinner, The Olde Greenfield has become known for favorites on each menu, explains owner Ray Hottenstein. Classics like Croque Madame and salmon and crab eggs Benedict are brunch favorites, while “quiche master” Pablo Romero’s lunch specials are popular for business meetings, says Hottenstein. A new addition to the lunch menu: the Ironstone Springs Farm Angus burger with
horseradish cheddar, which he says has become a crowd pleaser. “Crab cakes and scallops have been on the menu since day one,” Hottenstein adds.
The Olde Greenfield Inn will celebrate its 20-year anniversary in December; be sure to sign up for their email news on their website or follow their Facebook page for details on the celebrations.
