In this course we will learn what it means to pray, the benefits of prayer, and how to bring prayer into our daily life in a practical and balanced way. We will also have an opportunity to engage in traditional chanted prayers to Avalokiteshvara, the Buddha of Compassion, and be guided in a special meditation on compassion for all living beings.

This course will be taught by Julie Francisco, Resident Teacher of Kalpa Bhadra Kadampa Buddhist Center. Julie has studied and taught Kadampa Buddhism for many years. She has also engaged in extensive meditation retreat and is well-qualified to introduce others into Buddha’s teachings and meditation practices. She previously served as the Education Program Coordinator at Amitayus Kadampa Buddhist Center in Philadelphia while also working a regular job in the corporate sector. Julie shows a clear example of how to be a modern, lay Buddhist practitioner in a busy city, and presents Buddha’s teachings in an eloquent and inspiring manner.
