On September 24, 1963, at the dedication of Grey Towers (National Historic Site), President John F. Kennedy declared that Gifford Pinchot was more than a forester, "he was the father of American Conservation." This pictorial presentation by a Grey Towers educator will highlight the role played by Gifford Pinchot and his family in the introduction of practical forestry to America and how, as Governor, Gifford helped lift Pennsylvanians out of the Great Depression with numerous initiatives, including restoring the forests.
