Emmaus Road Cafe Lincoln Highway East, Lancaster, Pennsylvania 17602
Sammy and Kylie Horner, collectively known as The Sweet Sorrows, bring Celtic charm and edge together with soft harmonies to create an Americana/ Celtic Roots fusion.
Sammy was the founding member and former lead singer of The Electrics, a Celtic rock band from Dumbarton, Scotland, which formed in 1988. The band released a self-financed cassette album, Views in Blues , in 1989. Following this recording the band evolved a Celtic rock sound, heavily influenced by The Waterboys and The Pogues. Subsequent recordings included Vision and Dreams (1990) which was distributed by Word Records, and Big Silent World (1993), on Germany's Pila Music label.
Sammy has a successful solo career and almost single-handedly brought a new feel to spiritual music with his ground breaking Celtic Praise series. He has traveled across the planet playing shows in Europe, USA, Canada, The Far East, South Africa and Australia. With almost twenty albums in his body of work, he has received critically acclaimed reviews and a large fan base globally. He has performed at major festivals all over the world and produced other artists in both Europe and the USA.
Sammy has also played bass for Buddy Miller, Phil Madeira, Julie Miller, Mitch McVicker and Glen Kaiser. He has shared stages with Motorhead, Cliff Richard, The Alarm, Therapy, Bob Geldof, Bruce Cockburn & Martin Joseph. His songs have been covered by numerous artists including Buddy & Julie Miller.
Kylie was involved in music from an early age, and has been a lead vocalist and backing vocalist for bands in Australia, The Middle East & the USA.
Sammy and Kylie formed The Sweet Sorrows after moving to Canada from their native countries, Ireland & Australia.
