Stop Human Trafficking: Dickinson College and Cumberland County Commission for Women Host Panel Discussion and Keynote Speakers

Dickinson will host a presentation and panel discussion led by sexual assault and violence prevention experts to illuminate the topics of human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault and crime prevention in Cumberland County. The talk will take place Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Stern Center, Great Room, 208 W. Louther Street. It is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
Keynote speakers will include Rhonda Hendrickson, director of Violence Intervention and Prevention Services at the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg. Hendrickson manages one of the first federal human-trafficking grants in Central Pennsylvania that provides victim services, training and outreach. Actively involved in anti-human trafficking efforts since 2009, she chairs the South Central Human Trafficking Response Team and the victim services committee for the statewide implementation workgroup for Pennsylvania’s anti-human trafficking law, Act 105. Hendrickson speaks on the national, state and local levels as an expert in domestic violence, sexual violence and human trafficking.
Additionally, Steven V. Turner, crisis advocate coordinator and training specialist at the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg will deliver remarks. He focuses on human trafficking, sexual assault and domestic violence victims and survivors. He has served as a domestic violence advocate, trainer and pro-bono protection from abuse (PFA) attorney for the YWCA of Greater Harrisburg’s Domestic Violence Legal Clinic.
Panelists will include Cumberland County District Attorney David Freed, Laura Masgalas, director of Sexual Assault Rape Crisis Services at YWCA Carlisle and Jessica Knapp, development manager of Domestic Violence Services of Cumberland & Perry Counties.
