President's Lecture Series: Ann Compton

Ann Compton, accomplished speaker and award-winning ABC News White House correspondent, will speak at the Luhrs Center as part of Shippensburg University's "President's Lecture Series." Compton's lecture will offer an historical perspective of the presidency and the biggest stories of our time, today's event making headlines and the 2016 presidential election.
Compton will be the featured guest speaker of the pre-inauguration ceremony for Dr. George "Jody" Harpster, the incoming sixteenth president of Shippensburg University.
Ann Compton joined ABC News in 1973 and was the first woman assigned to cover the White House by a television network. From her seat at the White House, Compton covered seven presidents as well as innumerable life-changing and globe-altering events. With her personal access for over four decades, Ms. Compton is able to provide the historical perspective of today's global events while offering a look forward to the impact of the daily headlines and her first-hand knowledge of the people and issues that are shaping the future of this country.
Proceeds from this event benefit the Shippensburg University Foundation's Stewart Hall Restoration Fund which will help enable the renovation of an historic building on the Shippensburg University campus. The presidentail inauguration ceremony will take place Friday, October 2, 2015 at 10 a.m. in the Luhrs Center.
A reception and dinner are offered preceding the lecture. The reception begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by dinner at 6:15 p.m. Both take place in the Tuscarora Room of Reisner Dining Hall, adjacent to the Luhrs Center.
