Master Gardener Plant Fest
to
Cumberland County Ag Extension Allen Road, Carlisle, Pennsylvania 17013
Indian pink, native delphinium, eastern beebalm – are you looking for out-of-the-ordinary perennials such as these? You may not be able to find them at the big garden centers, but the Master Gardeners will have them for sale at their annual Plant Fest.
All of these native perennials will attract hummingbirds and pollinators to your garden. Indian pink has bright red and yellow flowers, well-suited to a lightly-shaded woodland garden; native delphinium, or tall larkspur, is a stately perennial with bright gentian blue flowers in mid-summer that thrives in light shade; and eastern beebalm has lovely spotted pink flowers, fragrant foliage that is mildew-resistant, and unlike other beebalms, doesn’t spread all over your garden. The plant sale runs from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., rain or shine.
It is easy to find, just off Exit 44 of I-81 on Allen Road (Rt. 465) across from the Sheetz, with plenty of parking available. Look for the big tents on the lawn next to the Cumberland County Service Center building, where the Penn State Extension office is located.
The Master Gardeners will be offering great prices on native plants from area growers and treasured plants from their own gardens, as well as sun and shade perennials, pollinator-friendly plants, herbs, vegetables, groundcovers, shrubs, and small trees. There will also be a gardener’s yard sale, native plant and pollinator information and resources, ideas for gardening with children, a plant clinic to answer your garden questions, and local community organizations and vendors. Get your spring planting off to a great start by coming to Plant Fest 2017.
