Market Square Concerts Summermusic 2012 Opening Concert

Market Square Concerts presents Summermusic 2012, an annual three-concert festival, offering an opportunity to hear chamber music with mixed instrumentation not usually presented during Market Square Concerts’ main season. Its opening concert will take place on Friday, July 20 at 8 pm in Market Square Church. The opening concert program will feature Trio for Piano, Oboe and Bassoon, Op.43 and Sonata for Piano Four-Hands, Op. 8 by Francis Poulenc, “Mother Goose” Suite for Piano Four-Hands by Maurice Ravel and Quintet for Piano, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon and Horn, Op. 16 by Ludwig van Beethoven.
Performers will include Stuart Malina, pianist and Artistic Director of the Harrisburg Symphony, Ya-Ting Chang, pianist and Executive Director of Market Square Concerts, Gerard Reuter, oboist of the renowned Dorian Wind Quintet, clarinetist Christopher Grymes, who is familiar to the Harrisburg audiences from his appearances with Concertante, bassoonist Peter Kolkay, winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition and Geoffrey Pilkington, French horn, winner of the International Horn Competition of America.

On Saturday, July 21, at 7 pm there is also a special “Dine with the Artists” event at the architecturally fascinating residence of Dr. Linda Litton. Limited seating is available at $125 per guest ($75 tax-deductible). The proceeds will benefit Market Square Concerts.
