On Tuesday, January 15 at 8 pm in Whitaker Center the Schumann Trio, named after composer, who called the trio made up of clarinet, viola and piano “the most Romantic combination of instruments” will perform music by Schumann, Rebecca Clarke, Bruch and Brahms. This program of rarely performed musical gems from the Romantic era will be a truly heartwarming treat in the middle of winter.
Comprised of Russian pianist Anna Polonsky, violist and founding member of the Guarneri Quartet Michael Tree and principal clarinetist Anthony McGill from the Metropolitan Opera, who performed alongside Itzhak Perlman and Yo-Yo Ma at President Obama’s inauguration, the Schumann Trio has been praised by critics for its “ravishing tone and keenly refined phrasing.”
Tickets are $30, $25 for seniors and $5 for college students. Tickets are free for school students and $5 for one accompanying adult. For tickets call 717 214-ARTS; information is available at 717 221-9599 and drichter@marketsquareconcerts.org. Remaining tickets will be available at the door.
