Fort Hunter Park North Front Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania 17110
"Hanging by a Thread" will showcase needle work from the Fort Hunter collection. Mrs. Reily was accomplished in the needle arts, serving as president of the Harrisburg Needle Work Guild for several years in the early 1900s. A quote from her diary said "Sewed all day," and makes note of her attendance at statewide Guild meetings as well as overseeing functions of the Guild held at the Harrisburg YWCA. A variety of forms of needle work will be displayed in the exhibit, including several quilts, needlepoint, a woman's bodice from the late 1700s, table coverings, hand towels and a knitted infant's cap.
