Fourth Annual Plein Air Camp Hill Competition and Arts Festival

This free festival for people of all ages and skill levels features a juried competition for artists and photographers, quick draw and photography quick shoot competitions, youth “paint out,” student competitions, free workshops, demonstrations, lectures and live music. Much of the festival with vendors, exhibitors, music, food and events will be based in Willow Park along 24th street in Camp Hill, with other activities nearby. Visitors can browse gallery spaces filled with original works of art created by local and national artists. Guests can also walk Market Street and other tree-lined streets and alleyways of the historic Camp Hill Borough with its Victorian-style houses, watching and talking with artists as they paint plein air (from the French en plein air, meaning “in the open air”). Artist and Photographer Preview and Student Awards Party, Friday, May 16, 5-7 p.m. at Gallery 2318, will unveil winners from various competitions. Tickets to this catered event are $25 and may be purchased through the festival website at www.pleinaircamphill.org. All activities are free and open to the public Saturday, May 17, 9 a.m.-9 p.m. Galleries open Sunday, May 18, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
