The Gettysburg Foundation is pleased to announce that the Ford Motor Company Fund is sponsoring a day of free educational programs at the Gettysburg National Military Park Museum & Visitor Center Saturday, August 5. The event is a collaboration of Ford, Gettysburg Foundation and Gettysburg National Military Park. The public is welcome to come and enjoy an activity-filled day for adults and children alike, with free admission to the Cyclorama, Film and Museum, along with other special events held only on this day.

8:15 a.m. - 5:15 p.m.
Timed Tickets are required and available at the Ticketing Counter at the Visitor Center
Start with our feature film “A New Birth of Freedom” narrated by Morgan Freeman, then spend time with the world-famous “Battle of Gettysburg” Cyclorama painting in the round, followed by a browse through the 12-gallery museum.
Explore and More with a Licensed Battlefield Guide

45-minute interactive Monumental Treasure Hunt with a Licensed Battlefield Guide.

NPS Family Activities
10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
A Family Activities Area full of special programs and hands-on history activities just for kids will be presented with a variety of history stations. Stations will include a Junior Ranger Station, Summer Reading Adventures at 10:00 a.m. and 12 noon, Selfies in Civil War clothing from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.; Hands on History Cart from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and Join the Army interactive sessions at 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m.
Live Music
Enjoy Civil War period music from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. outdoors. Come sing, dance and tap your toes to the lively music. A variety of musical acts will perform throughout the day highlighting musical traditions from historic to Americana selections.
Ice Cream Break
11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (while supplies last). Enjoy a free scoop of locally made Mr. G’s ice cream.
Living History Encampment
8 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Picnic Lunch
A specially priced picnic lunch will be available for purchase between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m.

The Ford Motor Company Fund serves to strengthen communities across the country and around the world and understands the value of preserving our heritage. The Ford Motor Company Fund Educational Center at Gettysburg provides classroom space and learning resources to share the historical impact of Gettysburg with generations to come.
The Gettysburg Foundation
The Gettysburg Foundation is a non-profit educational organization working in partnership with the National Park Service to enhance preservation and understanding of the heritage and lasting significance of Gettysburg. The Foundation raised funds for and now operates the Museum and Visitor Center at Gettysburg National Military Park, which opened in April 2008. In addition to operating the Museum and Visitor Center, the Foundation has a broad preservation mission that includes land, monument and artifact preservation and battlefield rehabilitation—all in support of the National Park Service’s goals at Gettysburg.
