Daniel Roumain: "Civil Rights Portraits as Democratic Vistas"
On Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m., come see Daniel Roumain:"Civil Rights Portraits as Democratic Vistas" in Biemesderfer Concert Hall at the Winter Visual and Performing Arts Center. Composed for string quartet by Daniel Bernard Roumain, "Civil Rights Portraits as Democratic Vistas" will present musical portraits of such iconic civil rights activists as Martin Luther King Jr., Rosa Parks and Maya Angelou, interspersed with narrative episodes drawn from slave narratives, political speeches and the famous essay by Walt Whitman, "Democratic Vistas." Part of the One Book One Campus program, Millersville University's incoming first-year students read "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" then share and discuss the same book and attend arts performances related to the subject.
This event is open to the public. Ticket costs are $15 for adults, $12 for seniors (60+) and $5 for students.
