The theme: Rustic elegance. Warm copper hues complemented the new venue’s chandeliered barn, and the rustic corn crib made an inspired backdrop for bridal party photographs. Hunting accents and favors reflected the groom’s taste, and vintage and lace elements like heirloom wedding gowns were Ashley’s influence.
The ceremony: Traditionally romantic, at a Gothic Revival-style church with both harpist and organist. A sweet “First Look” for the father of the bride.
The details: Copper accents, from marquis lights and mugs for Moscow Mule cocktails to copper-dipped antlers and posh chandeliers. Organically styled florals were mostly in peaches, blushes and creams. A cake suspended near the beautiful sweetheart table and stone fireplace added drama.
The threads: Ashley’s strapless lace gown and stunning layered skirt were perfect for twirling on the dance floor. A crystal-embroidered belt and chapel train were paired with crystal-accented heels and the mother of the bride’s cathedral veil. Bridesmaids’ varied chiffon-style dresses were Once Upon a Time blue. The groom’s handmade Lucchese cowboy boots set off the men’s classic jet-black tuxes.
The moves: Since Ashley’s hobby is dance, Jesse agreed to ballroom lessons for the wedding. Not that he needed them for his AC/DC “Thunderstruck,” but they worked for the first dance (George Strait’s “Carrying Your Love with Me”).
The hitches: The 100-percent rain forecast that came true… and the venue’s lawn, which failed to arrive.
The serendipity: Jesse thought it was time to kiss the bride, and he did. Only it wasn’t. When the pastor finally said he could kiss her, he did, again. (Cue the applause.)
The Getaway: Ducking under sparklers, the couple led the way to the Historic Acres Farmhouse after-party. First, a mini-moon in the Adirondacks over the 4th of July (cue the fireworks), then Maui and Kauai.
