Cooler months are upon us, whether we like it or not. To me, I hate the feeling of having a super cute, stylish outfit that I have to cover up with layer after layer just to keep the cold out. Some days, layering like it’s going out of style is the only way to stay warm, but there are days where you can sport a fashionable winter coat and keep warm.
With so many varieties available at varying price points, you don’t have to worry about hiding your figure with your frumpy winter coat, either. A winter coat may also be something that you want to spend a little more money on. You can wear it for several years; you know it is good quality. Think of it as an investment piece.
If you have a boyish figure, opt for coats that are long and tailored. Trench coats and ponchos are really flattering for this type of figure. I think trench coats, whether traditional or even wool, are the way to go. They are classic and never go out of style.
For you curvy girls, try to stick with a fitted coat that is similar in style to a trench coat. A belt is a great added feature to accentuate your curves. Some jackets even have a cinched waist, which gives the illusion of a belt. That is also great for curvy figures. Simple buttons are also flattering (no need for your coat to be too busy).
A lot of my petite friends always worry about getting “lost” in their winter gear, because it can be so consuming sometimes. If you are petite, double breasted coats (like a pea coat) are flattering. Plush styles are also great. As a petite woman you can afford to add a little extra without it making you appear larger.
Lastly, if you are a little busty, there are jackets out there for you too. Staying clear of coats that have belts is something to aim for. Tying a belt around your jacket accentuates your chest. Jackets with larger lapels also draw attention to your chest and can make you appear larger. Simple and long is the way to go.
Regardless of your size or shape, there is a perfect winter coat out there for you. It is possible to bundle up in style.
